SwellSpy started long before we ever sold a single piece of gear. It began as a passion project between my brother and me: a high-definition surf cam we installed on the Lake Worth Pier in South Florida. It quickly became the go-to camera for local surfers and fishermen because it delivered what everyone wanted — clarity, reliability, and a HD view of the ocean.
We learned two things from that experience:

salt water doesn’t make anything easy.
After years of maintaining equipment and eventually selling the cam, we shifted SwellSpy into a gear review site. We tested products, wrote honest reviews, and sent thousands of customers to the big-name surf shops. But the more traffic we sent, the more we realized something wasn’t right: the “industry standard” pricing didn’t reflect the actual cost of the gear — just the size of the brand behind it.
We figured if we were going to put in the work, we might as well build something better for the surf community.
Today, SwellSpy is a small, independent surf shop dedicated to offering high-quality gear without the big-brand markup. Most surf products come from the same overseas factories — we’re just transparent about it. No inflated labels. No mystery manufacturing. Just solid gear at a fair price.
